  1. After adding a couple of dictionaries and several fonts I would experience problems with books hanging while loading resulting in having to soft reset the device. Solution was to delete the alternative firmware and reinstall without adding any fonts or dictionaries. Maybe there is no correlation but I’d be interested to know if there is a limit to the number of fonts/dictionaries that can be added with this software.

  3. Upgraded from the previous version, with 6 dictionaries and a higher number of additional fonts (~10) installed – so far no problems. Epub-viewing is definitely much “snappier” than before :) I also love the improved handling after having device connected to computer – before I had to restart the device to restart the alternative firmware, this happens no more. If I may add two wishes :) :
    - please add support for thumbnail-view in file-view-mode. With my Calibre-based library each book has a cover as a JPG in the same directory, would be lovely to optionally have this shown…
    - please add support for partial searches. E.g. searching for “ork” gives filenames like “…work.pdf”, but not “…works.pdf” – these are only found when searching for “orks” ;)

Otherwise a great enhancement to my PRS650 – a big thanks to ebookapplications !

  5. I had tried to add several fonts and change some standart, but i didn’t met any bugs or mistakes. Maybe, the problem is in the dictionaries?!

  8. I have a PRS 950 and rely on the annotation features to mark up text and make comments on bookmarked pages, etc. I also use the wifi/3G. I like the applications you have in v1.10.0.3, but I don’t want to give up the original Sony reader functionality. If you could give us the option to boot up to either one when turning on the reader I’d install your firmware immediately. Is this a possible option?

  9. >>>If you could give us the option to boot up to either one when turning on the reader I’d install your firmware immediately. Is this a possible option?<<<

The following steps allows me to decide which OS to load on my PRS 350:

    A. Rename “ebookapplications” folder to something like “xxebookapplications”
    B. Turn e reader completely off
    C. Upon restarting, sony firmware will load.

To return back to the alternative firmware rename “xxebookapplications” folder to “ebookapplications”

    D. Shut down e reader
    E. Upon restarting, alternative firmware will load.

  10. Wow, page flipping works great.
I can’t see what’s new in the splash screen, but that’s not important.

For improvement: since the alphabetical order is case sensitive, can you add a ’shift’ key in the keyboard for renaming files? That can be useful, and aesthetic.

Also, is it possible to include a text search function inside the documents?

    Thank you and congratulations

  15. I love your firmware, it’s working absolutely great on my prs-350, and being able to add a custom dictionary is a deal-breaker for me. I have 2 suggestions though :

    - As Axel asked on Jan 5, would it be possible to have thumb-nail view for covers JPG

    - Could there be a way to add your own image to be displayed on the screen when the device is sleeping ? Alternatively, where is the “wallpaper.jpg” file located in the custom firmware ? I suppose changing it for another would work, but I couldn’t locate it.

    Thank you

  16. Thank you.

    From Help:
In order to change the default wallpaper image please change wallpaper.png in root READER directory. You have to save “wallpaper” name for this file, but can use any kind of files: png, jpg, jpeg, bmp, gif, tif, tiff, tga, sgi, psd.
